46 days of Treatment concluded which included 7 chemo treatments and 35 radiation treatments--Dec. 3, 2012-Jan. 18, 2012

Today is Day 2 of Recovery which began Jan. 19, 2013

I rang the bell signifying my last treatment on Friday, January 18, 2013 at MD Anderson.  One of my sons placed a video of the event on YouTube, which you can watch here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aO-UymMDfo

As a prologue, before you watch the video,  my last radiation was scheduled at 7:45 a.m. on Friday.  My wife and one of my daughters were with me when I entered the facility.  When I finished the treatment, ready to ring the bell, I then discovered my wife had secretly made sure all my children were present for this momentous occasion.  My two sons drove 9 hours from Texas Tech to be there and picked up my younger daughters in San Angelo on the way.  Evidently, they came to Katy late Thursday evening and spent the night and everyone knew but me.  So, I was very emotional to see them and had just hugged them when the bell ceremony began.

And as an epilogue, when we arrived back in San Angelo around 5 pm on Friday,  we were surprised to find dozens of vehicles lining the lane to our home, with scores of friends and family ringing bells to welcome our return "home".

Hopefully, someone will send me a photo of this scene as it was also very emotional to see so many "angels" continuing to support us.

It will take some time for me to recover. Since the radiation keeps working for a few more days, my pain will continue or even get worse for awhile.  My mouth sores and ulcers, my skin burns and rashes should heal soon thereafter, though.  Hopefully, my taste buds and salivary glands will become more normal soon, but doctors say that could be 4 to 8 weeks.  I am praying that it will be sooner, so I can eat real food again and keep my calories up.  So, I still need your prayers for some time.

In mid March, I will go back for a few days to be scanned and tested for results of the treatment, but I am very confident, I am cancer free.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.  I said going into this and say again with even more confidence  "I AM BLESSED".

God Bless.

Max

P.S.  Lisa is back in the hospital in Houston she is so weak.  She is the lady with lung cancer I told you about.

Rosemary has tests on Jan. 30 and Feb. 3 for her nursing courses.

Ryan Terrill's grandmother tells me Ryan continues to have a super attitude.

My attorney friend, Robert, has a setback, but hopes to be dismissed home from Hendricks soon.  He will have a tough recovery, I would expect, once he gets home.   All need your continued prayers.
